On July 1, 2022, the Alive Center was featured in the Naperville Sun for its push to get girls into STEM. From Teen-Led clubs or camps, Alive is making STEM accessible and fun for these young girls.
Hilary Decent, of the Naperville Sun, writes, “I feel l have spent years writing about the efforts to encourage girls to take STEM subjects at school. So, when I learned that there’s still a huge disparity, I was surprised. Surely by now the playing field would be more even? Apparently not.
For any of you without school-age children in the family, STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, which years ago were considered “boys subjects.” When I heard the Alive Center, which has locations in Naperville, Aurora and Hanover Park, is working hard to attract more girls to their science programs even while schools are out for the summer, I wanted to find out more…”
